given enough time, anything bought at harbor freight will eventually become a hammer.

If you've never used a Snap On ratchet- try one, you'll probably sell all your craftsman, husky, stanley, etc and buy all Snap On.

This is the absolute truth. Most of my sockets and stuff are kobalt and craftsman but I have one of the 80 tooth snap-on ratchets that is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Getting used to it makes it damn near impossible to go back the the terrible ones craftsman puts out today. Using really good tools can be dangerous road becuase once you get used to them its near impossible to go back to crappy ones and it can get mighty expensive keeping the toolbox outfitted with the latest snap on stuff.

the professional tools are worth it, but only if you're a professional. lots of people who use their tools more casually think otherwise but its a hard fact for the cheapo's to recognize until you've used them all day every day year after year.

Snap-on isnt any better quality than many other brands out there, and def arent the best.

Interesting, why do you say that?

P.S. to clarify Harbor Freight was a Joke...

My point is people are comparing apples to oranges. Talking about how nice the Snap-on is vs say the Craftsman. The Snap-on costs 4x what the Craftsman does, of course it nicer.

What I am saying is if you are going to spend $80-100 on a wrachet then you have several options, many of which are actually better than a Snap-on. And that you can spend $40 on a wrachet and buy one just as nice as a Snap-on.

Never had the pleasure of using a "professional" tool. Then again, I'm just a garage floor hobbyist. For now I'll stick with my mixture of Crapsman and Harbor Fright tools.

Where can I find a $40 ratchet thats as good as a Snap-On.... For that matter where can I even find a $100 ratchet that BETTER then a Snap-On?

^ this.

C'mon Grizz, spill it.

I know some people prefer Mac or Matco or whatever ratchets to others, even Snap On, but alot of that is just personal preference or supporting the brand because they have $40k invested in it.

that's what they are known for but they make a lot of very nice products beyond ratcheting wrenches (much of it is rebranded)...and yes, i'm pretty heavily biased Very Happy

their parent company (danaher tool group) recently merged with the cooper tools to form the apex tool group
