anyone going?

I've heard from some folks that NCCAR is not a great track, but I'm taking my "new" BMW 2002 ITB car for a shakedown weekend. I haven't been on track for a year or so, and never in this car.

You'd have more fun at VIR Nov 27/28 Wink

(Sorry, a little desperate for entries at this point.)

Well, I'm locked in to NCCAR now.

If things go really well, I might follow up with VIR on the 27/28th.

I've kind of hung up my instructor hat, so I'm paying full student rate for this stuff now, but I was just not enthusiastic about instructing any more.

Its a great test track and facility. Doing it once is good experience, and its low risk to shake down a car. But you wont be itching to run it again.

I think its a good track for vehicle dynamics and testing and tuning. I feel that you get a better sense to adjustments in those long constant radius turns and can feel how your car reacts better. I think of the track as a giant skid pad. Mr. Green

That track is worth going to at least once, I liked it much better when you could actually rent one of those awesome garages.

Either way NASA isn't going to run it again, you'll see why this weekend.

Well nothing against NASA but the registration numbers are total sh1t, this is mostly because they can't actually race there. They did double TT points and everything, I think there were around 10 people signed up in HPDE1-3. In addition, the track bumped their rental prices and all of the garages are occupied by "residents" now.

I think it's a fun track though, like said above it is one giant skidpad. I know on that one 270 degree sweeper you're able to really feel out how much abuse your tires can handle... I think it is definitely worth going at least once.
