What is your favorite way to go from Raleigh to CMP? Anything to watch out for? Map shows a straight line on some smaller highways, like 1. Is that good enough or better to go some other ways due to cops or road being shitty or anything like that? Just curious if there is any better way to get there than following what google maps throws out.

Kind of depends on what part of town you're in, and if you're towing or not.

From where I live (SE of Raleigh), I usually go I-40 to I-95 to I-20, then take 521 or 601 or whatever it is from Camden to the track. Takes about 3 hrs towing, and it's pretty boring and easy- all interstate except the last ~25 miles up to the track.

I've gone down the US1 route a couple of times from Raleigh, and it's OK, but you go through alot of towns, and the speed limit drops 55-45-35, then back up again as you leave each town. Not sure if there are any "shortcuts" worth considering.

US1 through rockingham if you're not towing or towing a smaller trailer...

40-85-77 through charlotte in to SC (would have to look up the rest of the route from there) if you're towing a larger trailer...try not to hit charlotte during rush hour...

This is what I used to do from NW Durham. With the construction on 85 on the north side of CLT, it can be pretty terrible. Even up in Salisbury with the new bridge. Definitely avoid rush hour; stop and eat dinner if you have to.
