This may be my first HPDE. What would I need and am I able to drive solo or will I need an instructor riding along?
Sorry for the new guy questions. I just picked up my BMW about 2 months ago and want to start getting it on the track.
Scratch that, I went deeper into the link provided. Any other tips/info would be great from you guys though |

Make sure to do a font alignment. You got crazy cross-camber on your font. _________________

First and foremost, be safe. Don't push it. Get a feel for the track and the car and yourself. Speed will come. You might be passing people on the straights, but you're gonna get clobbered in the corners by an e30 or Miata. It's OK.
Second, have fun! HPDEs are a blast. Talk to people. There is such a wide range of people at these events and most are friendly. Except for Evan.
Third, go for ride alongs when you're not driving. You can learn a lot from riding shotgun with an instructor.
Fourth, find time to watch the other groups. You can learn a lot just by watching the advanced groups on track. _________________

I'm thinking about coming to this event but I've never been to an SCCA DE. I've been to many, many DEs with other organizations.
Any comments on what SCCA events are like? What are the passing rules in the Red run group? How much seat time do you generally get?
Thanks |
