Just need to profess my love for my e92. Sure, it was wastegate rattle, a horrible exhaust rattle, worn control arm bushings, bad TPMS sensors, a leaking windscreen washer system, and probably multiple oil leaks but damn, I still get rubber in 2nd gear. I've never owned a car that will chirp the tires between 1st and 2nd until this one. She puts a grin on my face every time I mash the gas pedal.

That is all. Carry on.

Loved my 2008 E92 335i too, but did not have your problems. It just died of a bad fuel pump at the dealership. My M-Sport 335i is my favorite car I have owned. It is completely adjustable from tight hard riding and hair trigger throttle to boulevard cruiser to econo geek car and bits of each in between.

Sounds like a great car, Claud. Maybe I'll buy it from you when you're ready to move on to something else.

My car is right at 80k miles so it's bound to have some issues nothing that money can't fix, right? Twisted Evil

^ Something like that. Unless BMW NA does something about the turbos, I'll be living with them. Everything else is within my ability.

I love my naturally aspirated V8 BMW and I would not hesitate to buy the F80 M3 or other car.

Purchased it with 66k in 2012 and now has 113k. Not sure if when more funds are available if I should trade it for a 2011/2012 or just upgrade the iDrive and keep putting the miles on it. That's about the only thing I wish I had done differently now that I have had a chance to work on the newer iDrive cars at the store. One of these days, I hope to have time and resources to put it on track since I've never had a chance to really "run it up".

Inherited problems:
Inept technician at the GMC dealer I purchased it from cross threaded one oil drain bolt, used wrong oil filter and as such, needed a heli coil, which I outsourced since I didn't have a garage to do it myself at the time.

What actually broke:
Driveshaft joint/center shaft bearing ($200 for 30k/mile part + my time)
Driver power mirror ($40 secondhand eBay + some time)
Fuel pressure sensor ($80 part new + some time)

Maintenance:
Tires/brakes/gas/oil

I haven't driven the '07 Mini Cooper S as much since it is parked inside my store as a demonstration vehicle but it now has a phenomenal sound system in it. Trying to find a "shell" Cooper so that I can move the equipment to that and drive it around more.

The Cooper S developed a leaking thermostat, so it was replaced along with all the hoses with silicone as well as the oil feed/drain lines. Overall, not too bad and drives nicely but I always have this puzzled look when I floor it and it isn't as fast as I think it should be.

Loved.my Mini CooperS, but it had way too many issues to be considered reliable. Never modded engine, but it let me down on several occasions.

Gus I love it! But one criticism: the cooler is no where big enough to hold all of your beer. Are you still brewing?

Claud, unfortunately I think not many frequent the ORG any more. Any time I see Scottie at Bottle Rev, he seems to drive the S4 like he stole it.

Ashraf, great to hear that the M3 has been solid for you. My 335 overall has been solid. Just been prone to the typical issues of the model, especially being the first year. I don't think I'd hesitate to get an LCI 335. I love the F-series 335s with the exception of the iDrive screens - I hate those with a passion.

I've replaced my water pump, t-stat and associated hoses, oil filter housing and oil cooler gaskets, and battery. I think that's about it, other than wear items. I'll be doing the control arms and thrust arms this fall when it cools down a little. And it seems that a golf tee can fix my exhaust rattle.

I usually drive it like a granny, but I do love that there is always power on demand in any gear!

So, Jon, where did they go? Not to Bimmerfest or I would have noticed. Did our car friends get so old that they thought they were too mature for cars and forums? At 67 years old, I can tell you that if you are a car guy, you do not ever lose your love of fast machinery.

What is so bad about that generation of iDrive? I haven't spent any time playing the the F80 series instrumentation...
