Not 100% sure. I'm going through one of the SA from Flow BMW. It's on Sunday.

it's a member day...as a guest you'll most likely be running in a touring group, behind a pace car with no passing

I'm working with a client Saturday.

Those Touring Lights sessions are getting pretty quick! The pace car guys have a LOT more experience now <grin>

Time for me to get my E30 in track condition ASAP. A membership would be nice too. I was wondering about this yesterday; what exactly does DE stand for?

HPDE is what the majority of us do, "high performance driver education".

It's basically instructed lapping in groups based on experience, with passing and no pace car. As you move up the groups, the areas you can pass in and how you do so become less limited and people start getting solo'd off and running by themselves. At that point it kinda turns into just open lapping, but it's still technically non-competitive.

Some HPDE's will then include a time trial, which is like was Wes and I are starting to do. You need a roll bar, harnesses, seats, and fire extinguisher, and you run for time.

Beyond that you have real wheel-to-wheel racing like what Dave white and Skeen do.

Hopefully 'track condition' means just making sure nothing will fall off and will handle higher than legal speeds. If you browse the track forum enough, you'll quickly realize you don't need any race suspensions or tires, or race seats or harnesses to get started.

Just make sure everything is shored up, good fluids, good brake pads, then sign up for the TZC/THSCC event in February (reg should open no later than Dec 1).

It'll be the best investment you ever make in your car

I need to fix some small rust spots, but after that, tires, get the engine running well....then I'll be ready.
